Does anyone knows some good finite elements routines in 2D?
The discussion centers around the search for public domain 2D finite element routines, specifically for calculating the eigenvalues of the Laplacian operator over a 2D surface defined by a polygonal border. The scope includes inquiries about general-purpose codes, open-source options, and specific applications.
Participants express varying preferences for the type of finite element routines needed, indicating that multiple competing views remain regarding the best approach or code to use.
Participants have not resolved the specific requirements or preferences for the finite element routines, and the discussion includes a mix of general inquiries and specific application needs.
Individuals interested in finite element analysis, particularly in the context of 2D applications and eigenvalue calculations, may find this discussion relevant.

) or a code which is a short and simple one and will just do the job for your application.PerennialII said:Public domain with source are listed pretty good at :

bunch of them will do the job, suppose it's a question whether you want to work with a fairly complete package (like elmer for one, but am biased in recommending it) or a code which is a short and simple one and will just do the job for your application.
