Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Conceptual clarification, Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • Some participants describe Al-Naslaa as having "balanced" rock formations and note the visual appeal of the photos shared.
  • One participant points out a potential mismatch in the cleavage of the rock, questioning how much material may have been removed to create the clean edges.
  • Another participant expresses curiosity about the lack of estimates regarding the formation's characteristics and finds the crack in the rock to be puzzling.
  • There is a suggestion to explore similar geological formations, specifically referencing the Bisti badlands in New Mexico.
  • Some participants make light-hearted references to ancient alien theories in relation to the formations, indicating a speculative angle to the discussion.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants express interest in the rock formations and share observations, but there is no consensus on the specifics of their formation or characteristics. Speculative theories about their origins are also present, indicating a mix of viewpoints.

Contextual Notes

Participants note the absence of estimates regarding the amount of material removed from the rock formations and the unresolved nature of the observations made about the cleavage and cracks.

It's interesting how the cleavage of the first picture has a bit of mismatch between the two sides. I didn't read the article -- do they have an estimate for how much of the center portion of the rock was removed to make the two clean edges?

No estimates I can find. The crack is puzzling to say the least.
