High School What base to classify different string theory?

Click For Summary
The classification of the five superstring theories is based on different symmetries and boundary conditions. Each theory arises from unique conditions imposed on the strings, leading to distinct formulations. Despite their differences, these theories are interconnected through dualities, which reveal their underlying relationships. Understanding these classifications helps in comprehending the broader framework of string theory. The discussion highlights the complexity and interrelatedness of these theoretical models.

I do not know why can they classify 5 theories of superstring. Is that correct that they base on different symmetries?

They are motivated because of different boundary conditions one can impose. This gives different theories, which however are related by dualities.

"Supernovae evidence for foundational change to cosmological models" https://arxiv.org/pdf/2412.15143 The paper claims: We compare the standard homogeneous cosmological model, i.e., spatially flat ΛCDM, and the timescape cosmology which invokes backreaction of inhomogeneities. Timescape, while statistically homogeneous and isotropic, departs from average Friedmann-Lemaître-Robertson-Walker evolution, and replaces dark energy by kinetic gravitational energy and its gradients, in explaining...
