SUMMARY

The Subservient Chicken is an interactive online character that responds to user commands, showcasing a range of pre-recorded actions. Users can input various commands such as "splits" and "handstand," which trigger specific responses from the chicken. The underlying technology relies on a keyword recognition system that matches user inputs to a database of actions. Concerns about the ethical implications of the character's portrayal have been raised, including discussions about labor rights and potential lawsuits from organizations like PETA.

Unfair labor practices! this chicken deserves rights and benefits as humans do

I heard PETA was filing a lawsuit against Burger King because of this.

"splits" and "handstand" and "punch yourself in the face" are pretty funny :)

Is that for real? There is really a guy taking those orders, or is it some type of trick?

No, it's all pre-recorded. You can see the motions are all very similar, and he always returns to the same basic standing pose.

I'm guessing they just search for keywords, and have a huge database of actions.
