Homework Help Overview

The problem involves determining the equilibrium angle theta in a system comprising a spring and a cord, subjected to a vertical force. The context includes the spring's properties and the applied force, with specific values provided for analysis.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Assumption checking, Problem interpretation

Approaches and Questions Raised

  • The original poster attempts to find a shortcut to calculate the angle theta but expresses frustration over the complexity of their calculations. Some participants question the lack of equations and force diagrams, suggesting that these might be necessary for a clearer understanding of the forces involved.

Discussion Status

The discussion is ongoing, with participants exploring different aspects of the problem. There is no explicit consensus, but the need for clearer representation of forces is highlighted, indicating a potential direction for further exploration.

Contextual Notes

Participants note the absence of force diagrams and equations in the original post, which may be critical for analyzing the problem effectively.

Homework Statement

A vertical force P=10 N is applied to the ends of the 0.2 m cord AB and spring AC. If the spring has an unstretched length of 0.2 m. determine the angle theta for equilibrium. Take k = 150 N/m.

Honestly, I cannot say this is something difficult...
You don't show any equation, any force diagrams.

How can you represent on the plane the cord and spring forces ?
