If you're just trying to lighten the mood, then you're just joking around, IMO. Comedians don't flirt with their audiences, right?

Maybe I softened up the meaning too much with 'just trying ot lighten up the mood'. There has to be some genuine attraction between the two participants.

I hear what astronauc is saying though. I remember plenty of girls in high school that only flirted as a means to get what they wanted.
