Welcome to PF.

Thanks for expanding my vocabulary. I never heard that phrase "scrape off layer" before. I just searched it and found some interesting articles.

anorlunda, if I were to copy a problem form a book and then solve it, would I breach copyright of the book, if I mention the authors?

Welcome to the PF.

Working out problems is usually done in the Homework Help forums, and we have a Template that is used for posting schoolwork-type questions. For Quiz Questions (like our Math Challenges), those are usually run by the Mentors and Science Advisors. Please send me a Private Message (PM) with information about the problem and your solution, and we'll try to figure out the best way to handle it. Thanks.

The conversation needs to be specific, so start it off with a question.
