Hello every body
While reading an article, I came to know that interactions between nucleons in nucleus are due to YUKAWA POTENTIAL. Can anybody tell me what’s that potential means and what it signifies?

Physics news on Phys.org
yukawa potential includes the exchange of massive particle between two interacting nucleons which is missing in electromagnetic field where photons are exchanged (massless) between the two interacting charges. the exchange of massive particle in yukawa potential helps to reduce the repulsion between the two protons

you can also try google and then ask more specific questions later.

And the yukawa model for the nuclear force was one of the first approaches to solve the nuclear force problem, so one should not say that the interactions are due to that model, it is just one, very simple, model
