SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the need for a valve that can pressurize a system, maintain pressure temporarily, and then exhaust it on command. A regular gate valve is identified as a suitable option, contingent on the size of the pipe or tubing. Additionally, an instrument valve is suggested as an alternative for smaller applications. The focus is on portability and low-pressure functionality.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of valve types, specifically gate valves and instrument valves
  • Knowledge of pressure systems and their operational requirements
  • Familiarity with pipe and tubing sizing
  • Basic principles of fluid dynamics
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the specifications and applications of gate valves
  • Explore the functionality and advantages of instrument valves
  • Investigate low-pressure system design considerations
  • Learn about portable valve solutions for various applications
USEFUL FOR

Engineers, designers, and technicians involved in fluid control systems, particularly those seeking portable and low-pressure valve solutions.

I need a valve that will pressurize a system, then leave the system pressurized for a time, then exhaust the pressure on command. I need it to be easily portable and quite small, and will run at pretty low pressures. What kind of valve would do this for me?

A regular gate valve will work just fine. depends how small your pipe/tubing is. maybe just an instrument valve
