Automotive What particular mechanic or engineer does this work?

AI Thread Summary
A mechanical engineer is the professional qualified to design and create a hydraulic car lift using CAD software. This engineer can develop new arrangements of hydraulic valves, cables, and other components necessary for the lift's operation. The lift operates through electrical switches and motors or hydraulic valves, emphasizing the importance of mechanical interlocks for safety. No specialized software is required for controlling the lift, as it relies on these mechanical and electrical systems. The discussion highlights the specific expertise needed for such mechanical design and safety considerations in auto repair environments.

TL;DR Summary
Hi, I would love to understand how to create a software for controlling a hydraulic car lift.
Hi, making the thread again since I posted a pic with a link, so I apologize.

What particular mechanic or engineer can design/create (using a CAD, new software, etc), a hydraulic car lift to mechanically lift a car? Plus its accessories/machinery/cables in a regular auto repair shop, for the mechanic to work underneath?

What specific expertise is this?

Who can create a software for controlling this machine?

Folks, this is my question since I am not educated in your area.

The machine would be designed by a Mechanical Engineer.

The machine does not require software. It is controlled by electrical switches and motors, or by hydraulic valves. Mechanical interlocks are required, without software, because safety is very important.

Hello, Baluncore:

Thank you for be my first reply. You rock!

I mean, who do this? Any mechanic or engineer? Or it is a separate expertise, example, let's say Hydraulic mechanic,,,?

No, no, you already answered: a Mechanical Engineer.

So, a mechanical engineer could create in CAD a "new" type of hydraulic valves and cables.

So, a mechanical engineer could create in CAD a "new" arrangement of hydraulic valves and cables, chains or screws.

Again, thank you a lot for the answers in educating me about this.

I may comeback with other questions during the weekend.

Have a good day, you and every member here!

Thank you again)

How did you find PF?: Via Google search Hi, I have a vessel I 3D printed to investigate single bubble rise. The vessel has a 4 mm gap separated by acrylic panels. This is essentially my viewing chamber where I can record the bubble motion. The vessel is open to atmosphere. The bubble generation mechanism is composed of a syringe pump and glass capillary tube (Internal Diameter of 0.45 mm). I connect a 1/4” air line hose from the syringe to the capillary The bubble is formed at the tip...
Thread 'Physics of Stretch: What pressure does a band apply on a cylinder?'
Scenario 1 (figure 1) A continuous loop of elastic material is stretched around two metal bars. The top bar is attached to a load cell that reads force. The lower bar can be moved downwards to stretch the elastic material. The lower bar is moved downwards until the two bars are 1190mm apart, stretching the elastic material. The bars are 5mm thick, so the total internal loop length is 1200mm (1190mm + 5mm + 5mm). At this level of stretch, the load cell reads 45N tensile force. Key numbers...
I'd like to create a thread with links to 3-D Printer resources, including printers and software package suggestions. My motivations are selfish, as I have a 3-D printed project that I'm working on, and I'd like to buy a simple printer and use low cost software to make the first prototype. There are some previous threads about 3-D printing like this: https://www.physicsforums.com/threads/are-3d-printers-easy-to-use-yet.917489/ but none that address the overall topic (unless I've missed...
