SUMMARY

Most individuals begin studying calculus as college freshmen, while advanced students may take AP Calculus during their senior year of high school. In Belgium, precalculus is introduced in the fourth year of secondary school, with the final two years focusing on calculus concepts. Key topics covered in high school calculus include series, limits, derivatives, partial derivatives, integration, and simple differential equations, which are also commonly required in many European countries.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of basic algebra and functions
  • Familiarity with limits and continuity
  • Knowledge of derivatives and their applications
  • Basic concepts of integration
NEXT STEPS
  • Research AP Calculus curriculum and exam structure
  • Explore precalculus topics taught in European secondary schools
  • Study the applications of derivatives in real-world scenarios
  • Learn about integration techniques and their uses in calculus
USEFUL FOR

Students preparing for college-level mathematics, educators developing calculus curricula, and anyone interested in the educational pathways for learning calculus in different countries.

"Most" people start as college freshman. Brighter students take advanced placement calculus in high school (senior year).

It really depends where you are.
In Belgium, precalculus is taught in the fourth year of secondary school. The last two years are devoted to calculus.

Things I saw in High School:
Series
Limits
Derivatives
Partial Derivatives
Integration
Simple differential equations

I'm quite sure that in most other European countries this is also required knowledge for most students.
