The discussion revolves around the desire for a global smoking ban and the extreme measures some participants suggest, including a 300% tax on cigarettes and labeling smokers as "terrorists." There is a strong sentiment against smoking in public spaces, with references to successful indoor smoking bans in places like New York City, which have improved the atmosphere in bars and restaurants. Some participants express frustration with smokers, citing health concerns and the unpleasantness of secondhand smoke. However, others argue against the harsh labeling of smokers, suggesting that they should be treated with understanding due to their addiction. The conversation also touches on broader themes of personal freedoms, social acceptability, and the potential for future legislation regarding smoking and other health-related issues. The tone fluctuates between humor and serious concern, with some advocating for social change rather than legal restrictions. Overall, the thread highlights the ongoing debate about smoking, public health, and individual rights.

What's the ETA on the global smoking ban? I'd like to know when we can get rid of smokers. Also, since we are on this topic, maybe the Gov. can place a 300% tax on cigarrette sales. Hell, I'll even go ahead and say smokers should be labeled terrorists since they terrorize my lungs and threaten my health.

Ah, ignorance!

Given the freedom to legislate, we legislate away freedom.

I would rather see a social change, if only a person would as soon defecate in the middle of the street as to be caught smoking. No laws, no legislation, just social acceptability.

its funny how people always say they were "cleaning" their guns when they get shot instead of actually saying what they did. (i. e. playing with it...) You seriously need to get killed by your own gun if you're that stupid...
Heh, Russian Roulette is like poker - you need to practice to get good at it.

Or at least make it legal for me to beat up smokers.

I think you need some help: it's not normal to want to fight or kill people because they smoke.

Because they smoke in places they are not supposed to smoke, you move away yet their smoke reaches you despite your best efforts, or you politely ask them not to smoke in your house yet they light one up anyways (I threw him out of my house).

Anyways, I only want to beat them up, not kill them. Violence is the best problem solver.

If someone is smoking in an illegal place, then you should tell them to stop. If you just sit by and moan quietly to yourself, then nothing is going to happen.

Well, I would never allow someone into my house who would not abide by rules such as no smoking.

There is no point in debating such nonsensical points.

Yeah no point in debating anything actually. City governments are on my side on this issue anyways. Soon enough smoking will only be allowed at home ;)

Where is your evidence that "city governments" support you going round and assaulting members of the public? Smoking is never going to be banned from open public areas (streets, etc) but yes, I support smoking bans in indoor public places. I don't support vigilante acts whereby you go around assaulting people you don't agree with.

We do NOT condone violence here. I think it's time to lock this thread if it has degraded to the point of discussing desires to commit violent acts toward other people.
