SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the search for Texas Tower data for physics experiments, specifically looking for archives or spreadsheets containing this data. The Texas Towers, known for their significant sway that caused seasickness among crews and even led to a collapse, are referenced in the context of producing a plot similar to one found in AP French's "Vibrations and Waves." Participants in the forum are encouraged to share resources or links to relevant datasets.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of physics experimental data analysis
  • Familiarity with data visualization techniques
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet software for data manipulation
  • Basic understanding of the Texas Towers and their historical significance
NEXT STEPS
  • Research available archives for Texas Tower data, such as government or academic databases
  • Learn data visualization techniques using tools like Python's Matplotlib or R's ggplot2
  • Explore physics literature for case studies involving Texas Towers
  • Investigate the historical context and engineering challenges of the Texas Towers
USEFUL FOR

Physics students, researchers in experimental physics, data analysts, and educators looking for historical data related to the Texas Towers and their impact on physics experiments.

I'd like to produce a plot that looks like

I'm searching for some good Texas Tower data. Can you recommend an archive of physics experimental data? Or what I'd like even more is a spreadsheet with some texas tower data.

For those who are not aware of the origin of the term "Texas Tower".

They used to sway sufficiently to make the crew seasick. On one occasion the oscillation lead to collapse.
