The discussion centers around the Physics Forums' membership milestone of 200,000 members, with participants speculating on the date and time it will be reached. Current membership stands at 197,293, with an average growth rate of 200 to 300 new members daily. Predictions for the milestone range from April 18 to April 22, with various humorous exchanges about the significance of the milestone and past member purges affecting total counts. The forum is noted as one of the largest physics discussion platforms online. As the conversation progresses, members track the growth closely, leading to excitement when the forum finally surpasses the 200,000 mark at approximately 3:40 AM PDT. The discussion concludes with light-hearted banter about future milestones and member engagement.

4 to go. I have to leave. I hoped for a screenshot, and 3 hours ago it looked quite possible, but later it slowed down.

Wait, we have 200,000 members but we haven't reached 250,000 posts? We must have a vast complement of lurkers.

I know I'm doing my part, (and, apparently, the part of almost 10,000 other members, too...)

I think rewebster was going for 2.5 million posts.

Well, this IS a physics forum, and you were still within one order of magnitude, so technically that was good enough.

Look at the time of my post since it happened 1 or 2 minute/s before my post...

You mean about 1 light year Borek.

No idea what you mean - but I meant 1 hour time difference in time zones.

How do you know where she lives? She wouldn't even give me the time of day when I tried to find out. She's so mean.

I don't know. She lives at some undisclosed location.

She wouldn't even give me the time of day when I tried to find out.

That's because you asked. You have to guess and not admit you know.

She's so mean.

Or shy.

I have two:

When will the number of threads equal 333,333?

When will the number
of posts equal the population of Earth, taking into account that the population of Earth is not a constant number but varies according to the same variable that post count does: time?
