Writing information to Radio Frequency Identification(RFID) tags

Click For Summary

Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around the process of writing specific codes to Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags for an inventory database of library books. Participants are seeking guidance on the technical aspects of programming RFID tags, particularly in relation to the unique coding system required for the books based on their type and location.

Discussion Character

  • Technical explanation
  • Homework-related

Main Points Raised

  • One participant is tasked with creating an inventory database using RFID to monitor library books and seeks information on writing codes to RFID tags.
  • Another participant inquires about the specific RFID tag systems and vendors considered, as well as the required number of alphanumeric digits for each book.
  • A participant mentions using AT870 RFID readers and specifies that they will employ an 11-digit alphanumeric coding system for the books.
  • There is a suggestion to search online for resources related to writing to RFID tags, with a link provided to a Google search.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants have not reached a consensus, and multiple views remain regarding the specifics of RFID tag systems and the process of writing codes to the tags.

Contextual Notes

Participants have not yet confirmed the type of RFID tags to be used, which may affect the guidance provided on writing to the tags. There is also uncertainty regarding the specific requirements and functionalities of the RFID systems being discussed.

Good day, I have been given the task to create an inventory database for the books at the library at my school using the RFID to monitor the books. However the books have specific codes based on their type and location in the library. I was wondering if someone could give me some information as to how i go about writing the codes on the books on the RFID tags.
Thanks in advance.

What RFID tag systems and vendors have you looked at so far? How many alphanumeric digits do you need for each book?

Thanks for your response. We are using AT870 RFID readers and I haven't seen the tags that we are expected to use as yet. We will be using a 11 digit alphanumeric system. Any response stating how to write to any tags will be greatly appreciated. As soon as my lecturer is available I will get the information as to the type of tags been used and update you. Thanks again for your help.
