    B Calibrating measurements from scratch

I am curious as to the scientific method applied to define units of measure. And how easy/hard it would be to progress in accuracy up to, say, high school level. Mm, cm, L, mL, Kg, lbs, feet, inches, etc. Or if it would be more prudent to just define new units of measure and rebuild from there.

    B Calibrating measurements from scratch

Assuming you are in the field and don't have any device to weigh, measure volume, or measure time. How would one establish accurate measurements? Where does one start?

What Are the Essential Experiments for Studying a New Planet?

This is exactly why the topic, find out what is actually unreasonable and restructure. I am greatly appreciating all the feedback.

What Are the Essential Experiments for Studying a New Planet?

I more want to go this route, but I wanted to learn about what science could realistically be done to know what kind of things my much smarter than me characters would do. As well as reverse engineering my fictional planet, so I don't make up something that just doesn't work with physics. For...

What Are the Essential Experiments for Studying a New Planet?

Immediate survival needs are a given, I'm wondering what experiments would be carried out over the years they live there. They'd need to know how intense the solar radiation is to ensure their safety. They'd need to know soil composition to grow food better. They'd need to study hunting patterns...

What Are the Essential Experiments for Studying a New Planet?

A small group of scientists (3-4) accidentally find themselves on a new planet while doing some field testing on earth, and must learn about it to survive. There is no way back to Earth or any kind of communication with earth.

Yes, but I want to be as factual as I can.

What Are the Essential Experiments for Studying a New Planet?

Summary: I am looking to compile a list of experiments that would be conducted on a new planet to learn about it. Hi, I am trying to compile a list of experiments that would be conducted on a new planet. I'd like to categorize them as such: Simple field experiments that could be done with...

    B Matter/antimatter hybrid atomic structures?

It's not necessarily off track. I was trying to find some sort of alternative atomic construction that is purely theoretical but could, theoretically, have been how the world was constructed, if the universe had different base particles so to speak. Something that would not have any testing yet...

    B Matter/antimatter hybrid atomic structures?

So, discovered possibilities are too unstable. Are they inherently unstable, or just unstable because they differ from the norm of Earth matter? Would they be stable if all the world was the same? Would a positron be able to replace an electron at all? Would it be at all stable if it could...

    B Matter/antimatter hybrid atomic structures?

I know that direct interaction of opposite chirality(?) particles results in annihilation(eg. proton and antiproton). And I have read that proximity of quark and antiquark, even if in separate subatomic particles, results in at least partial annihilation(eg. Antineutron and proton). But I am...
