News EPA says Volkswagen installed software to cheat on emissions

There was no great feat of engineering needed to fool the USA emissions tests. The CPU simply recognized when the front wheels were turning and the rear wheels were not which is the situation during testing. During test mode full NOX prevention such as EGR was engaged. With both front and rear...

    Cautionary story: Death by GPS

If I miss a turn in a housing subdivision with twisting winding streets, I don't wait for the GPS to plot a twisting winding course back to where I should be. I make a U turn and go back 1/2 a block.

Why is our beloved food causing us harm?

Everything is processed judging by the number of food additives. Even unprocessed meats appear to cause cancer if cooked at a high temperature. http://www.cancer.gov/about-cancer/causes-prevention/risk/diet/cooked-meats-fact-sheet

Why is our beloved food causing us harm?

Perhaps not, I just thought I was going to die. :) And I do believe that I expanded well beyond wood pulp It is all of the cellulose derivatives that have me concerned. Admittedly the way pulp is originally produced set off my alarm bells. Then, unless it is just added as fiber, it is...

Why is our beloved food causing us harm?

Up until the last 100 years or so there were few food additives, they now number in the thousands. My question is whether or not we can adapt to them in our diets as fast as new additives are being added to our food supply.? I had no clue that if a food item states cellulose on the label that...

So what's up with Common core?

http://www.corestandards.org/Math/Content/3/OA/A/1/ IMHO it is a waste of time to push this concept in 3rd grade to 8 year olds. The concept will fall into place all on it's own down the road a few years. For this age group this type of learning is not age appropriate. The makeup of the...
