I too have seen very strange red clouds at night, January 28th 2012 3:00 a.m. Far enough from town to be able to see the light pollution orb no lights nearby, the cloud was circular and deep red, whitish around the outsides(barely visible in the darkness) It occupied about 2/3rds of the sky...
