How can I display milliseconds on my HD camcorder for outdoor video monitoring?

I'm surprised we don't have an Equipment category on PF. Much of working with Physics is equipment for monitoring, testing, calculating, etc. Then there's not just the equipment (hardware) but software, operation, source of supply, repair, calibration, rentals, etc. So let me throw that in the...

Magnitude and Duration of Inrush on various lighting technologies

Thank you Berkeman. That is very useful information. If anyone knows any sources for other lighting technologies that would help as well. Thanks again.

Magnitude and Duration of Inrush on various lighting technologies

OK I'll make the question more generalized. We know the duration of inrush is relative to ambient temperature of a light bulb. From room temp to Tmax will be something. And from zero deg to Tmax will be more. But are we talking about 20ms, 200ms, 20s, etc? Anyone have a clue for...

Finding Academic Software for Efficient Formula Typing

I find MS Word to have too many shortcomings. There is no ability to sit at a keyboard and type. It's a constant fight to get subscript, superscript, Greek letters and formatting to work. What should take 15 seconds to type takes 15 hours of fighting an obviously defficient application. I choose...

Finding Academic Software for Efficient Formula Typing

What software works best for a student to be able to sit at a blank page and be able to efficiently type formulas without having to fight the software for nomenclature, super/subscript and Greek letters? And how about freebody diagrams, graphs, etc? Isn't there academic software for all of...

Windows GodMode: for Vista, Windows 7

Thank you for the warm welcome Rhody. I spent some time over the weekend looking through the homework section to see how questions are asked and answered. I also read the rules which go along with the site. Looks like quite an active site here.

Evaluate the magnitude of the gravitational field at the surface of the planet

I haven't looked at your graph, but acceleration in any equation is the second derivative. First derivative is velocity, second is acceleration. So if your graph shows you something happening at the surface of the planet, take the second derivative of the function at that place on the chart.

Windows GodMode: for Vista, Windows 7

This is the best thread I ever found online. I am also a Physics student at a public university in the US. So I joined. GodMode rocks! I have had Win 7 since mid-Dec09 and have spent dozens of hours looking for things. Thank you so much for that and also for the tutorial on how the docs and...
