Targeting the Sun: A Hypothetical Look at Laser Power and Sky Position

Sorry, as stupid as this may sound, the laser is asumed to be fired form the Earth.

Targeting the Sun: A Hypothetical Look at Laser Power and Sky Position

The whole thing about the laser is just to have a (silly) excuse to wonder how to do this. I think that the movement that is important here is the rotation of Earth around it's own axis, rather than its movement around the Sun.

Targeting the Sun: A Hypothetical Look at Laser Power and Sky Position

Yea, but what about the time it takes to the Sun's light to reach the Earth? What role does that play?

Targeting the Sun: A Hypothetical Look at Laser Power and Sky Position

Say there is a very powerful laser, so powerful it's capable of destroying the Sun. What point in the sky should you aim for in order to hit the sun with a laser beam? Thanks in advance for your help.

Is Rudolph's Lamp Paradox an Example of Breaking Fundamental Postulates?

We have a lamp and a chronometer. The lamp is initially turned off. Then, we start running the chronometer. When it marks 30 seconds, we turn on the lamp. When the chronometer marks 45 seconds, we turn it off. When it marks 52.5, we turn it on. I think you see where am I going. The next interval...

    Parabolic paths vs Elliptical paths.

We are always taught that a projectile describes a parabolic path (neglecting air resistance), but the path is actually elliptical. So, my question is this: A projectile is thrown in point A (on the ground), it reaches a maximum height H, and it finally falls in point B (same height as A, that...

Calculating Work and Power in Two Common Problems: Bubble Radius & Heart Pumping

    1. There's an spheric bubble in the air with a radius of 3.2 cm. You blow air inside the bubble until its radius gets 5.8 cm. Which is the work done on the bubble? Consider the (constant) superficial tension of the bubble as 26 N/m. 2. The heart pumps 75 ml of blood in each beating with an...
