Are Humans Truly Unique in the Universe?

Does life naturally evolve into a complexity that produces intelligence? It only appears to based on one example of what has emerged on earth. It was a bolide that wiped out over 90 percent of life on Earth that actually made it possible for mammals to become the dominant form of life on the...

Why do people still insist on the soul?

Many people are afraid of life because of the many perceived dangers that come with it. These dangers are emphasized everyday by the media, professionals and even parents. A chronic, condition of introversion has spread into societies where real and imagined dangers keep people behind locked...

Why do people still insist on the soul?

I would personally encourage the study of evoked "near life experiences" (NLE) rather than concentrating on "what its like to be dead". This could only add "soul" to what is today often considered a "souless" society.

God's Existence: Beyond Existing and Nonexisting?

Actually, from our perspective the reason for everything is to support our progress. This, however, for the most part has been proven to be a correlative, egocentric delusion.

Are Humans Truly Unique in the Universe?

Thank you berkeman. What are the possibilities that I missed that? (100%) With so many galaxies to choose from (billions and billions) and many of them sporting a ring shaped habitable zone it seems as though life, complex or otherwise, can take place pretty well anywhere out there.

Are Humans Truly Unique in the Universe?

It would be possible to compile an approximation by way of extrapolation with regard to the probablility or possibility of there being a form of life that resembles the human form (and function) The method would be to compile all of the conditions that have contributed to the emergence of life...

Why do people still insist on the soul?

My two cents on the word "soul". from wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soul These definitions describe a condition that appears to animate the physical. The soul is shown here to be the essence that gives sentience and purpose to an otherwise useless lump of...

God's Existence: Beyond Existing and Nonexisting?

I disagree. As long as we don't have a reason for something we will be looking for one. Some will fabricate the cause and some will investigate the cause. Fabricated reasoning will collapse on to its poorly fabricated support. Investigations will go on for centuries, with no assurances of...

Is Superposition of Thoughts Possible in the Human Brain and in Nature?

As far as I know we are all subjected and exposed to the same stimuli. The sun, the Earth and everything that goes with these two mammoth stimuli are forefront in our perception and our collective experience. These stimuli and the many other constants that come with them are stimulating neurons...

Can Philosophy Be Structured as an Exact Science?

Its how we interpret and translate facts in nature that requires "correctness" among more than one person or more than one opinion. Here's a guide to creating your first ontology. http://protege.stanford.edu/publications/ontology_development/ontology101-noy-mcguinness.html Or just...
