Southwesterly is not sufficient to concluding 45 degrees. There is a way to figure it out without assuming 45 degrees. I just don't know how to do it due to the weird similar triangles I get.
But the angle does turn out to be 45 degrees

A helicopter velocity relative to the ground is flying south for exactly .75hours. A wind blows and the helicopter ends up 30 Km in a southwesterly position away from her starting point. the helicopter speed relative to the ground is 50km/hour. What is the direction and...
If you really desire to fully understand GUT, then you have to learn about the computer chip after you study matrices. Engineer a microchip and program this chip to graph in 3 dimensions, and you can all start to understand how to think in more than 3 dimensions!
Although springs exert a nonconservative force, you can treat this problem as a conservative force problem for now. Conservative forces have a definite integral and a potential energy graph. Thus, you need to know the height when using the ever easy equation of potential energy equals mass...
Just use netwons third law to connect the forces. Here's how to start... The force exerted onto object one from from object two is positive 10 Newtons. The force exerted onto object two by object one is negative 10 Newtons. Afterwards, connect the definition of work = force times displacement...
Thanks. I found my mistake. It has to do with vectors and the correct orientation. It is positive one half sine of 2 theta in the incorrect vector orientation. I just have to reverse the direction of the vector, and the interval reverses as well.
Homework Statement
From angles pi minus theta1 to pi plus theta1, what is the integral of cosine of 2 theta times d theta?
Homework Equations
The Attempt at a Solution
When I evaluate this definite integral from pi minus theta1 to pi plus theta1, I get positive one half sine of...
Heres a simple situation I can't seem to adequately explain to students. A box experiences a force exerted on it by the earth. The third law of Newton states that an object that feels a force exerts an equal and opposite force, which is the force that the box exerts onto the earth. If the box...
If you think you can contribute to the all elegant string theory world of trying to unify the four forces into one multidimensional equation, by all means, learn the harmonic overtones so that you can associate your discovery with notes that sound good together. Music is merely a series of...
Isn't all math that is taught in k-12th grade a sequence of harmonies? Why does it have to end with just noise? There ought to be more star trek conventions and star parties. Here's a new idea... A young writers convention where we can receive genuine critique from k-12 students.
I am not quite there yet, but certain materials have magnetic domains that can align properly to increase or decrease magnetic moments. Sure, changes in temperatures can alter the frequency of proper alignment. If there is just a way to align the domains inside certain conductors to shield the...
