About mid way through it states there are materials where you can put in one energy and get out another energy. Thus it seems to me with such a material you could in effect pump this material with an easy to attain energy/frequency and get back a more difficult to attain frequency energy?
But...
So if a substance/material gives off a certain frequency does that mean that it could also lase? Is there a book of meta-materials, such as materials that can accept one frequency to put electrons into an excited state but give off a different photon when the electrons drop back down?
Is there a text, or set of texts, on how to predict what frequency of photon is released when a particular molecule is brought to an excited state and then relaxes?
So for example if you were to put, say, benzene into an electrical tube and excite it what frequency would be released and more...

What is the best way to bond GaAs to the intrinsic layer of a laser diode? I am planning on building a refactory oven on a concrete pad this summer once I clear of one side of my yard. There is just no way around it...
Are there any instructional video's on how to make your own CVD Diamond optics. I was looking online and CVD Diamond wafers are EXTREMELY expensive.
Is it possible to make a plasma chamber for CVD if so does anyone have any good text recommendations
What is the catch
Does anyone know what kind of optical coatings are used for metal mirrors in optical applications to prevent the surface from oxidizing and that also does not degrade the reflectance of the aluminum itself?
I am guessing the aluminum would have to be cut to shape then placed in a vacuum to...
Thank you for the reference. Anderson does not provide raw code, although I did find his email address and asked him (but he has not yet responded). His book does a marvelous job of breaking the PDE's into algebraic problems which is what is required for finite element (PDE -> algebra) and...
Does anyone know of a great text that shows how to set up FEA in MATLAB in detail. I have wrote out the sort of pre pseudo code from John Andersons - Computational Fluid Dynamics now I just need to build it out in code. I am old school with the hand sketches, hopefully this does not get me a...
Hello,
Does anyone know if a finite element skeleton source code exists. Finite element can be used for structural memebers, gas dynamics, etc. But the over all stepping software is the same and then just input the core equations.
My application is for pseudo one dimensional compressible...
Hello Dave,
That is a good point, perhaps I will table this endeavor to revisit another time. Plus with the loss of my oil and gas job I pretty much have to focus full time on just investing what I have saved so it can grow and putting away every additional cent I have at my pedestrian job...
Very cool, I am going to add TI to my list, I did not even think of ordering chips from TI. The circuit I am building will be concerned with phase shifts of high frequency signals, so I will need to be able to see how the circuit responds to an incoming signal and then how the DSP creates a...
That number is what I have seen on youtube videos, 70k was not explicit but they were all some crazy number. Anything more than 10k or so for a piece of equipment is all the same to me. Whether its 70k or 200k, I am not going to be buying it lol.
I think there would be solder mounted chips...
