    Planet formation and star formation

When our star the Sun finally accumulated enough matter for fusion to start what would that have done to the planets around it? Afterward what would have happened to the Earth for it to get from when the sun started fusion and blasted the Earth and now, with water and atmosphere?

    Can Planets Form Without Stars?

has anyone ever done research on the accretion of planets into a system without a star forming? Just a dark system. How likely is this to happen as opposed to a system forming with a star?

Sun formed on a core of a supernova?

At least now I know it's not just me who thinks how our solar system was formed and from what types of stellar structures (such as SNe's) contributed to our current state of affairs

Sun formed on a core of a supernova?

From my research and studies so far it appears that our system could have formed in 2 stages, our sun formed from a collapsing cloud of gas, and our planets formed from a cloud of heavier elements and was then later captured by our sun. This theory is based on the idea that gravity pulls...

Gravity as consequence of universe expansion

Interesting idea, especially since the faster an object is moving the more mass it has(as shown in GR) hence it would have a stronger gravitational field. Is this thinking correct anyone?

How do i measure light frequency?

what about using an infrared camera to see the IR coming from the TV and the remote when it is being used?

Galactic Structure: Do Astrophysicists See Stars Where They Are Now?

when astrophysicists study the structure and rotation of galaxies do they take into account that we are seeing the stars in it where they were at different times, we aren't seeing them where they actually are now? Say stars on the closest edge are 100,000 light years away but stars on the...

Birth of Planetary Systems: Starless Possible?

does anyone know if it is possible for planetary systems to form with no star, just planets? and if so how likely they would form compared to systems with stars? Kind of a ratio of planetary systems to solar systems.

Why do helicopters use a stabilizer rotor while airplanes with propellers don't?

why do helicopters need a stabilizer rotor but airplanes that use propellers don't?

Unveiling the Mystery: The Birth of Stars and the Role of Nuclear Fusion

well I guess either no one knows or my question was so incredibly stupid no one could be bothered to answer it. Thanks to those that did post replys.

Unveiling the Mystery: The Birth of Stars and the Role of Nuclear Fusion

The force of matter being ejected by Sol would stop any new hydrogen from being collected. The same reason why Mercury has no atmosphere or what would happen to Earth's atmosphere if Sol turns into a red giant.

Unveiling the Mystery: The Birth of Stars and the Role of Nuclear Fusion

Why are some stars larger than others? It is my understanding that hydrogen collapses due to gravity into a sphere and when a critical mass is achieved nuclear fusion occurs. Since the critical mass for this to happen is a constant shouldn't all stars be relatively the same size since a star...
