In summary, the PF server has been experiencing slowness and database errors since 2PM PST on Sunday, February 8th. The issue may have been caused by a high number of users online, but it has since been resolved. Autolinking to the PF Library has been temporarily turned off to help improve server stability.

PF Server Slow -- Sunday 8-Feb 2PM PST

Starting at about 2PM today, the PF server has been very slow, including some Database Error timeouts. Seems to be improving a bit (3PM), but still may require a server re-boot.

FYI.

Wonder if its something to do with a new record being set for the number of users online?

I'm still getting occassional db errors when clicking on a link to most of the forums.

And PF is loading slowly, even after clean files/cache etc.

autolinking

Autolinking (to the PF Library) is not working.

Has it been turned off to help the server?

yeah I turn it off if the server is hurting, I'll put it back on when we have some stability back

What is causing the PF Server to be slow on Sunday, February 8 at 2PM PST?

There could be a variety of reasons for the server to be slow, such as a high volume of traffic, technical issues, or maintenance being performed. It would be best to contact the server administrator for a specific answer.

Is this a recurring issue with the PF Server?

It is possible that the server experiences slow periods on a regular basis, but it could also be a one-time occurrence. It would be best to monitor the server's performance over a period of time to determine if it is a recurring issue.

How long can we expect the server to be slow?

It is difficult to predict the exact duration of the slow period, as it depends on the cause of the issue and how quickly it can be resolved. It is best to contact the server administrator for an estimate.

Can we do anything to improve the server's performance?

There are a few things that could potentially improve the server's performance, such as optimizing code, upgrading hardware, or implementing caching techniques. It would be best to consult with a server expert for specific suggestions.

What steps should we take if the server continues to be slow?

If the server remains slow for an extended period or experiences frequent slow periods, it would be best to contact the server administrator to troubleshoot the issue. They may need to investigate the server's logs or make adjustments to improve its performance.
