http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9898884/MR. RUSSERT: And we are back. Fifty-eight years ago MEET THE PRESS debuted as a television program on NBC. It is now the longest-running program in the world. Our first guest on that Thursday night at 8 p.m. was James A. Farley, F.D.R.'s close adviser and former chairman of the Democratic National Committee. Happy birthday, MEET THE PRESS. On to 59.
It just blew me away to think that this goes all the way back to FDR's people. As with http://www.pbs.org/newshour/" on PBS and a few other sources, the chance to watch extended interviews with the people making the news is invaluable. Russert carries on the tradition of asking the tough questions while face to face with those who are accountable. IMO this show is a must for anyone interested in politics.
