Homework Statement
Find the values of m so that the function [tex]y = e^{mx}[/tex] is a solution of the given differential equation.
Homework Equations
[tex]y = e^{mx}[/tex]
[tex]5y^{'} = 2y[/tex]
The Attempt at a Solution
I am not sure if this is right:
[tex]y^{'} = me^{mx}[/tex]
[tex]5y^{'} = 5me^{mx}[/tex]
[tex]2y = 2e^{mx}[/tex]
[tex]2e^{mx} = 5me^{mx}[/tex]
[tex]2 = 5m[/tex]
[tex]m = 2/5[/tex]
