Homework Statement
when it comes to determine if a material is hydrophobic or hydrophilic, from what I know it is determined by the nonpolar or polar properties of the molecule. water is polar which as there is no neutral electron balance
between atoms and one side of H2O is negative charge and one side is positive from what I understand. so they are attracted to each other. And with nonpolar there is an equal balance of sharing the electron in the molecule.
My question is with acrylic plastic from what I know it is Carbon5-Oxygen2-Hydrogen8. would this make the bonds nonpolar? Is acrylic plastic hydrophobic?
