I've been reading a few mathematical definitions and I'm still not sure I grasp their significance. If Ax = b, then what do the singular values of A represent in terms of x and b? Why are they important?
I'm not looking for a formal definition, just a conceptual description or even some rambling about what they're used for, so I can get an intuitive idea of their purpose/significance.
Thanks for any help
