Hi
i have a very basic question in calculus. i know that the tangent to the curve y=f(x) is denoted by dy/dx which makes sense to me geometrically. But normal to a surface k(x1,x2,x3) is Grad k. how is this? it doesn't make sense to me geometrically. can anyone throw more light upon this please
