Seeing an ufo from an airplane window (video)

AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers around a video linked from Dumpert that showcases a curious stroboscopic effect. Participants speculate on its nature, suggesting it could explain certain sightings reported by airplane passengers. One theory posits that the phenomenon might be due to reflections caused by curved glass, while another explanation points to a camera scanning artifact. This artifact occurs because the camera does not capture the entire field of view simultaneously, leading to discrepancies as the propeller moves between scans. The conversation highlights the interplay between optical effects and camera technology in interpreting visual phenomena.

My best guess would be curved glass reflections. Look at seconds 5 to 8, the reflections are disappearing down the window.

That's definitely a camera scanning artifact, caused by the fact that the camera is not scanning the entire field of view at once, and between scanning successive lines, the propeller is moving significantly.

Just ONCE, I wanted to see a post titled Status Update that was not a blatant, annoying spam post by a new member. So here it is. Today was a good day here in Northern Wisconsin. Fall colors are here, no mosquitos, no deer flies, and mild temperature, so my morning run was unusually nice. Only two meetings today, and both went well. The deer that was road killed just down the road two weeks ago is now fully decomposed, so no more smell. Somebody has a spike buck skull for their...
