Undergrad Excel trend line vs regression analysis
Ha. I figured it out all the points in my graph were misregistered to each other by one.- AndrewBworth

Undergrad Excel trend line vs regression analysis
No they both have zero intercept. I have five groups of data points, with two to three points in each group (concentration its a calibration curve). In some of the groups there is 1 point that is a bit higher than the other. The slope from the regression seems to go through the majority of...- AndrewBworth

Undergrad Excel trend line vs regression analysis
I did some data analysis with excel fitting some linear, zero intercept data with trend line and the regression analysis tool. The slopes generated by the two methods were different by about 10%. The regression line seemed to be weighted differently, are these two methods different for some...- AndrewBworth

Chemical Potential: Pressure, Fugacity, & More
Chemical potentials can be written with an an ln term which has pressure, fugacity, concentration, activity coeff times concentration, mole fraction, and mole fraction times activity coeff. Is there any source that makes sense of this?- AndrewBworth

Propagation of error: exponents
Hi all. I have been trying to understand propagation of error of exponents. Most an. Chem textbooks I see say y = a^x, sy/y = (sa/a)*x. But say y = a*b, then sy/y = ((sa/a)^2 + (sb/b)^2)^.5 . if a = b then sy/y= (2*(sa/a)^2)^.5 = 2^.5*abs(sa/a). This shows the rule y=a^x, sy/y= x^.5*abs(sa/a).- AndrewBworth

In Gibbs Free Energy, why multiply -T?
Thermodynamics only determines whether or not a reaction can occur and what the equilibrium will be at completion. The rate at which a reaction occurs is determined by kinetics. So oxygen and hydrogen don't spontaneously react due to reasons of kinetics -but the thermodynamics is correct in...- AndrewBworth

Working with Maxwell's equations
Right I don't understand it either they've inserted the differential expression into a partial fraction I don't know how to work with it.- AndrewBworth

Working with Maxwell's equations
Hello all - I've been trying to work out an example from a book, and I don't quite understand the math. show that (δT/δV)s = - (δP/δS)v solution (δ/δV (δU(S,V)/δS)v)s = (δ/δS(δU(S,V)/δV)s)v (δ/δV (δ(TdS - PdV)/δS)v)s = (δ/δS(δ(TdS-PdV)/δV)s)v (δT/δV)s = -(δP/δS)v...- AndrewBworth

What are the research interests and goals of a future MRI scientist?
Hi, my name is Andrew. I have an undergraduate degree in chemistry from West Chester University of Pennsylvania, a MA in physical chemistry from the University of Delaware, and am working on a BS in Radiologic Technology from Jefferson University. It is ultimately my goal to earn a PhD and...- AndrewBworth
