    so far i was able to get the final velocity of the system as \frac{M+m}{2g} v_b^2 = (M+m) h where h = l(1-cos θ) therefore v_b^2 = 2 g l (1-cos theta)

    Hi everyone i really need help with this, unfortunately my "signals and systems" professor dropped this on us without even covering it in class. From my earlier physics class i can solve for theta in a ballistic pendulum, but since this one has a string attached to it, i really have no clue how...
