How can I calculate the range and trajectory of a ping pong ball launcher?

Hi there. I'm at bath uni. Our group is building a ping pong ball launcher. Here are some issues we encountered. If the ball is to drop vertically into a 40mm tube with air flowing at 6bar(does this mean anything?) will it drop in or will it blow back out. Also I'm not to sure how to...

True Explanation of a Lever please.

I think that your question really isn't about a lever, babysteps. You're asking a very philisophical question. That is really "why is the universe the way it is" which at present scientists can still not really understand. The closest answer you can get to your lever question really is that the...

Derivate the forumla for the acceleration due to gravity

Surely g is an accelleration due to gravity! How can it not be, when gravity causes something to accelerate at g. If it isn't an acceleration, how is it a field constant? It isn't, becuase g isn't constant throughout a field?

Can Artificial Intelligence Exist? Investigating the Possibilities

Surely the most accurate way of simulating statistical results would be to simulate the underlying processes. If we were to purely analyse the way in which these results are produced, and then simulate that through some algorithmic process, this would not take into consideration other "animal"...

How Do I Solve Polynomial Equations with Real and Complex Roots?

As above, but divide (x-4) into 1/2t^3-5t^2+3t+36 Then when you get the second polynomial use the quadratic solution to get t=8.196

Can Artificial Intelligence Exist? Investigating the Possibilities

Can an artificially intelligent machine exist. One that will pass a Turing test? Does a brain work algorithmically, or is there really something we call a "spirit" inside of us that generates a personality? Or could a computer potentially reproduce the way in which a human brain works by using...

    Projectile Motion with a Spring

    To eradicate this problematic approach, i will consider the spring moving harmonically: here goes a = -\omega^2 l sin\omegaT a = -\omega^2 d a = -\Frac{k}{m} d T = \frac{2pi}{\omega} d = \frac{1}{l sin \frac{\frac{-k}{m}\frac{2}{\pi}}{\sqrt{\frac{k}{m}}}} my previouse equation...

    Projectile Motion with a Spring

Firstly, i imagine you know the spring constant of the spring, if not, you can work it out using simple harmonic motion equations. Once you know this, you can begin to work out its acceleration as it is in contact with the spring. This can be done by using the eqations: F=-kl (where k...

Understanding the Relationship between Kinetic Energy and Momentum in Collisions

You need to consider Newton's coefficient of Restitution e = Relative Speed of separation/Relative Speed of Approach Where e is the the coefficient of resitution. This is used when there is a energy loss. i.e. the collision is inelastic. Yes youth!

    Yes youth. Cheers !

    Finding Values for k in f(x) = 2x^3+7x-3

yes, what i mean is that when, 2x^3+7x-3/(2x-k) This equals some polynomial funtion with a remainder of -8. How do i work out what the polynomial is?
