Can Humans Really Have Superhuman Strength?
It would be nice to think that superheroes exist. They don't. As I posted something like 18 pages ago, the only incredible feat here is the general failings of human recollection. Study after study have shown that memory is fallible and all to easy to influence. The 90lb lady who rolls a car...- daveg360

Capturing Screen Activity Is this Possible?
I've used an app called CamStudio quite a lot: http://camstudio.org/ It's free and has the ability to record to flash as well as the usual video formats. Also able to record sound - so you can capture app audio or your own commentary.- daveg360

The Chocolate Thread - Valrhona Gourmet Chocolates
Wonder what it is about chocolate - the most iconic chocolate in the U.K is probably Cadburys. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Cadbury" I'm not sure that I can forgive Mr Hershey despite his fine acts - his crimes against chocolate may be too great:wink:- daveg360

The Chocolate Thread - Valrhona Gourmet Chocolates
Can any of our American members explain Hershey's chocolate? I work for a very large American company and sometimes visitors over from the 'States bring it with them. It tastes vaguely like cheap chocolate except if has a vomit tinge to it. I've also noticed that our guests typically love the...- daveg360

Forget electric cars, what about try to design photonic cars?
In terms of joules, NIF produces a 4 MJ pulse. 4 MJ is about 4 candy bars worth of energy. I believe they hope to be able to do this up to 7 times a day. Well that would keep a couple of people in candy bars but it aint going to get you home in your car (unless you eat the candy bars and...- daveg360

Can Humans Really Have Superhuman Strength?
Wow if only empirical data was so easy to produce in real life! a 10000Kg truck would need about 600N of force to pull it based on the following assumptions: Rolling resistance of tyres: 0.0062 No resistance from the drivetrain. 10000 kg × 9.81 m/s2 × 0.0062 = 607.6 N Even if we make...- daveg360

Can Humans Really Have Superhuman Strength?
Versus anecdotal evidence and tabloid headlines? unless you're will to perform to lab experiments I'll continue to apply Occam's razor - people are performing feats beyond human capabilities or the observers are simply mistaken? I think it's important to put aside ones overwhelming need for...- daveg360

Can Humans Really Have Superhuman Strength?
I agree with erok81 - a lot of the witness accounts fail to correctly observe the physics of a situation correctly. I child pinned by a car who is freed by a mother lifting the car quickly becomes "60Kg lady lifts 1600Kg to save child!" when in fact she didn't lift anything like that sort of...- daveg360

Calgary dad wins no-homework lawsuit for his kids
I think he taught a vital lesson - who needs employees that can regurgitate reams of text from a book? versus who needs employees who can find the most efficient effective way of solving a problem and then work as a team to implement it?! I had the same arguments with teachers when I was in...- daveg360
