    Does Philosophy strive for objectivity?

confutatas I would also add that academic philosophy tends to over focus on the refinement of language as if all issues were effectively solved and just needed a linguistic tidy up. Also, that mode of thinking you mention should be referred to as critical thinking, CT being the gathering...

Can scientists see either atoms or molecules?

http://www.nobel.se/physics/educational/microscopes/scanning/ And this means that the graphical reprenstations of atoms@molecules are based on the effects of atoms, IOW, no-one can take either an actual photograph or can look into a microscope and immediately see either an atom or...

    Philosophy: Should we eat meat?

Good point and I agree that experiment will determine the "optimal" dietary needs of each individual. I don't think we need any milk except our mothers milk, cow milk is for cows, human milk for humans...humans less likley to accept the conditions cows accept as farm animals. I think this...

    Does Philosophy strive for objectivity?

Certainly that's the "ideal" goal, only the application of rational and critical thinking to all subjects of mans interest. But I would suggest that current philosophy has hijacked epistemology to the point where it excludes non-rational modes of knowing, what we can call intuitive or...

    Philosophy: Should we eat meat?

Excellent post Sir. I believe that science supports fruit as the best food group, it best matches our anatomy and physiology. What I'm curious about is if we accept that fruit is the best{but not exclusive food group}, does the concept of food combining make sense? In essence it says eat...

    Does Philosophy strive for objectivity?

Yep...but realistically, whilst the objective individual attempts to enter this detached mode and apply quality amounts of critical thinking, the individual is still operating within a paradigm. If this paradigm excludes God for ex, then NO amount of detachment/objectivity will ever convince...

Can scientists see either atoms or molecules?

I was under the impression that we can't see atoms, that we could only create models that best reflect the effects of atoms.

    Philosophy: Should we eat meat?

Carbohydrates that haven't been refined are very good for you. Both simple{fruit}@ complex{vege} are essential for proper health. I have my doubts about whether any meat consumption is necessary, but this is only knowable via experiment{which the individual can undertake and prove}.

Can scientists see either atoms or molecules?

I accept knowing and describing atoms via effects, I was just curious if they've ever been seen@molecules for that matter?

Can scientists see either atoms or molecules?

Has anyone ever seen a DNA molecule, or is that a theoretical model{a graphical representation}..?
