Programs Math classes to supplement CS degree
I don't think Analysis (I think you mean Real Analysis) has much to do with CS (from the industry perspective), I don't know about research. Some classes which can be useful are - Discrete Mathematics, Numerical Analysis, Automata Theory, Data Mining, Signal Processing, Image Processing...- doodle_sack

Admissions Getting Into MIT to the Application Process
I second wukunlin's advice here. However, if you try for the moon, you will at least end up getting a star, so do try. I would suggest you to look at INMO (Indian National Math Olympiad) and eventually learn about Physics Olympiad, if you can make it there, then you will be in a really good...- doodle_sack

What is the Best Book for Learning Mathematics in Computer Science?
Concrete Mathematics is an excellent book written by the same professor who wrote The Art of Computer Programming - an algorithm bible. Nevertheless, I wouldn't suggest you Concrete Mathematics at this point of time, on the other hand, I would recommend you to take a look at this one - Discrete...- doodle_sack

What do you do during the holidays?
I go to my country house and spend time there, beautiful grounds, it gives me peace of mind. If I feel my mind is back to normality, then I buy the texts used for the next semester courses. An interesting thing to do will be to read "practical things" about the courses that you have planned to...- doodle_sack

What Are the Best Resources for Winning Gold at the IMC?
I meant to ask what is your problem-solving skill level, not which year of college you are in. As I said, the list is quite huge and it won't help you even decide which book to start from. Assuming you have decent problem solving skills and you can ace a random problem from some regional math...- doodle_sack

Courses Physics Courses/ Topics used in FE
Sorry, forgot to mention, my Physics background is Classical Mechanics I at the level of Mechanics: Berkeley Physics Course, Vol. 1, by C. Kittel, et al, Newtonian Mechanics: MIT Introductory Physics Series, by A. P. French.- doodle_sack

Courses Physics Courses/ Topics used in FE
Hi, I searched the forum but couldn't come up with any answers, so here goes my question: What are the topics/ courses that are used in Financial Engineering? I have the chance to take up to 4 courses (usual UG Physics courses) and my pick was Mathematical Physics & Statistical Mechanics, but...- doodle_sack

What Are the Best Resources for Winning Gold at the IMC?
This pretty much depends on where you want to start from. I have a huge list (collected from MIT website and from other sources) of books, but it is very hard and misleading to suggest anything before knowing what your background is.- doodle_sack

How hard does this test look to you?
NO! Those questions are problem-solving based (mostly taken by regional mathematical olympiad contestants). To answer your question, I have heard many many mathematicians say that having the "problem-solving" mindset and skill will help you become a mathematics researcher but it is...- doodle_sack

What makes putnam-style problems 'different' from other problems?
While I agree to most of what micromass said, I don't agree to this: but most of the time these mathematical competitions have nothing to do with research. Being good in a mathematical competition means that you know a lot of theory. This can be true, but not always. You can be a good...- doodle_sack
