like 1/2^k + 1/2^k * 1/2 = 1/2^k - 2k/2k - (1/2^k * 1/2)? where do i go from there?

thanks! okay i did the same thing for number one and i got -1/(2^k) - 1/(2^(k+1)) = (1/2^k) - 1 - 1/(2^(k+1)) how do i cancel this out?
