Why do we need particles in our theories?

Then I must ask, what is being mesured by a scale? scales are mesuring SOMETHING. That is undeniable. We just happen to give this quantity the name "mass" are you arguing that a scale doesn't measure anything? Or that we have given this quantity the wrong name?

Why do we need particles in our theories?

Force is defined as a Kilogram*Meter/Seconds^2 So, how would you define force, if you didn't defind mass first? The existence of force directly requires mass.

Lorentz Force: Does Velocity Still Matter?

Wierd. I think I am going to have difficulty with this one.

Lorentz Force: Does Velocity Still Matter?

How would this all change if it were in a spinning plasma?

Lorentz Force: Does Velocity Still Matter?

INTERESTING! I am having a TAD bit more difficult time understanding this. So, the force that causes two wires to attract (with equal currents) Is NOT the lorentz between the electrons of one wire on the electons on the other, but is the lorentz force between the electrons in one wire...

Lorentz Force: Does Velocity Still Matter?

How does that work in a wire?? If you have two parrell wires, with equal current flowing in the same direction Do they not repel despite the charges having equivalent velocities?

Lorentz Force: Does Velocity Still Matter?

I guess what I am asking is in F=QVB. What is the "V" relitive too? It can't be the relitive speed between the two electrons. Becouse the lorentz force exists when electrons are traveling in the same direction, with the same velocity. It can't be the relitive speed of the medium...

Lorentz Force: Does Velocity Still Matter?

The Lorentz force is perpendicular to velocity, so in the case of wires, the lorentz force won't change the velocity that is generating the lorentz force. Where did special relativity come into this?

Lorentz Force: Does Velocity Still Matter?

The lorentz foce has been bothering me. Becouse it seems to sugest an abosolute velocity. Say you have tw parrellel wires, with equal current running in the same direction. According to Lorrentz force, they attract. Now, the two wires are plasma. The curents are running side by side, at...

Calculating Final Velocity of Matter into Black Hole Event Horizon

This doesn't seem right to me. Would you mind referencing somewhere, were a scientist has used light to measure the speed of time? So, you're saying that all the four forces are due to a single particle. If this is so, would you mind explain why we can only detect Photons for light, and...

Calculating Final Velocity of Matter into Black Hole Event Horizon

I am very interested in time, and its dynamics. So, I am curious, how would you define the "Speed of Time?" Why do you say that Time travels faster than light? Why do you say that time has any velocity at all? Remember Newtons laws F=ma. Which implies that for something to have a...

Is Time a Testable Dimension in Science?

Not really. Becouse IF you are correct, and we are using time to prove that time exists. Then if time DIDN'T exist, then we wouldn't have it to prove that it exists. If you see what I am saying. Time undeniably exists. We measure it ever day. We experience it every day. Take...

Containing Plasma - Electric & Magnetic Fields Explained

MMM! thanks very much wow...261 pages. I hope I have the time, perservearence, and knowledge to understand it all.

Containing Plasma - Electric & Magnetic Fields Explained

That's the problem. I can find articles on the EXISTENCE of a Tokamak, but nothing on the physics that I can understand. Maby that's the problem, I COULD just look up a bunch of papers on plasma confinement, but I know I wouldn't understand them..

Containing Plasma - Electric & Magnetic Fields Explained

Recently I have heard that to contain a plasma, you need both an electric and magnetic field. I'd like to look into this more, does anyone know where I can find information on it?
