Optical Path Length: Calculate w/ Refractive Index & Length
This is the question: The optical path length of a light beam is nd where n is the refractive index and d is the physical distance. A light beam passes through 2.0 in thick glass (n=1.525) and then through 12 in. of water (n=1.33) and finally though 0.6 in of polystyrene (n=1.590). What is the...- istinkatphysics

What Is the Theoretical Dielectric Constant of Cardboard?
During a lab, which i suspect got bad results, the dielectric constant of cardboard 0.00105 m thick was found. The answer in my calculations was 5.554. Does anybody know what the theoretical constant would be so i can get a % error or explain what went wrong. Thanks.- istinkatphysics

Electric Field at Point P on a Nonconducting Rod with Uniformly Spread Charge
Hi everybody, I was wondering if somebody could help me with this problem. "A thin nonconducting rod of finite length L has a charge of q spread uniformly along it. Show that E = (q / 2πεoy) (1/{ [L² + 4y²]^1/2}) gives the magnitude E of the electric field at point P on the perpendicular...- istinkatphysics
