    Complete Destructive Interference?

I don't think i really understand what you mean  . What is linewidth? Thanks.

    Complete Destructive Interference?

I think both detectors will have destructive. Here is why...look at this break down for each mirror: Mirror 1 (beam splitter): half goes straight on half is refelcted, thus 180 out of phase Mirror 2: Beam has traveled extra 1/4 of a wavelength compared to straight on beam. It is...

    Complete Destructive Interference?

I searched for a topic already about this and i couldn't really see one so here we go. A teacher of mine showed this problem to me and could not see a solution just as i cannot either. A single laser beam is sent on a path as in the diagram enclosed as an attachment. If you look in the...

How does the Cavendish Experiment relate moment of inertia to elasticity?

Joep...come on Joe I've told you before! k=GPi d^4/32L T=2Pi(SQRT(I/K)) Substitute all that together and you'll have it.

Calculating Moment of Inertia for Rod w/ Weights at Ends

Yes it does spacetime, the parallel axis theorem seems to be what i required because it appears to allow me to just regard the masses as two cylinders with the axis of rotation through their centres. This allows me to simply add mr^2 to the equation for a cylinder, (i think). That also works...

Calculating Moment of Inertia for Rod w/ Weights at Ends

My problem is trying to calculate the moment of inertia for a rod with two weights on the each end (like the type weightlifters lift) turning in a horizontal plane with a wire fixed to the middle of the rod. How do you calculate this? I suppose it could be seen as two cylinders, one small...

How does the Cavendish Experiment relate moment of inertia to elasticity?

Thanks James...that was very helpful. The investigation i am doing now is to do with the factors that affect the time period and damping effects of a torsional pendulum. Recommend any good places for research?

How does the Cavendish Experiment relate moment of inertia to elasticity?

James or anyone else, is there an equation to derive the torsional stiffness (k), involving say young's modulus? Thanks.
