Compressive strength of aluminum
It might be useful to make both aluminium pieces from the same bar stock. If you want the properties to be nearly the same. If made from the same bar stock then the same heat number will apply to both pieces so the material properties of both pieces will be as close to identical as you could...- Joe591

Need help with determining thickness of steel bars
The problem with this is even if you size the steel bars correctly, you end up with everything else being undersized. Like a guy that always skips leg day. Great upper body strength, but very skinny legs.- Joe591

Lawn/Garden Wind Speed required to topple Patio Screen Support
for this one tank we built the consulting engineer legitamately used 200km/h in his calculation for wind resistance. the chances of such a wind is quite low.- Joe591

I need to know what A frame design is needed for this trailer
if the a frame design looks anything like in the following picture: then i think you have two major conditions to consider. the first condition is when the load is fully lowered and the second condition is when the load is fully lifted.id like to draw your attention to how much the angle of the...- Joe591

Does a pump face less back pressure if a vertical pipe is wider?
The bigger pipe will put less back pressure on the pump for the same flow.- Joe591

Snail Fan Motor High Current Issue
Even on smaller boilers this is an issue. The induced draught fan must be run at reduced speed or with a damper partially closed until the flue gas temp gets to acceptable levels. In our case this will be about 160-220 degrees. Trying to run the I'd fan on full output when temps are low results...- Joe591

Fluid dynamics problem: Equalize the volume of water in tanks at differing heights
oh I see. yeah, I'm reasonably convinced it will require intervention. I tend to solve my problems with technology rather than math though, lol... I must admit I don't have the faintest idea about the math that your using, haha- Joe591

Maybe look up municipal water flow dividers. I think they sound like what you are looking for.- Joe591

Elasticity of a Tubular Cantilever Beam
The ''beam'' is extremely short compared to how wide/deep it is. The way I see it you will not be able to ignore shear deflection because it will have a significant contribution. Plastic usually has a youngs modulus way lower than any steels so the rotation of the rod in the plastic will also...- Joe591

Does it take longer to accelerate from high speed to higher
I might have read the question too quickly. I see my mistake now. the explanation holds though. it will def be ''harder'' to accelerate from 0-1000 m/s, but yes, it is the opposite of what the OP suggests. it seems it won't allow me to edit the answer. -
Does it take longer to accelerate from high speed to higher
Well, yes, it is harder. You will require a larger impulse to accelerate the same mass from 0-1000m/s. Note that this can either be a small force applied over a very long period of time or it can be a very large force over a small period of time. More fuel will be required and more energy will... -
Max Compression & Reinstall of Spiral Wound Gaskets -Advice Needed
We used spiralwounds on the boiler manholes. General consensus was that if you used it once you chuck em. They get crushed quite badly when you tighten them down. Can't comment on recommended torques though. We tightened them as hard as we could and then flogged them down some more sometimes...- Joe591
