Can Shooting Locks in Movies be Realistic?

Referring to KTC's link, which I can't quote yet cause of forum regulations: After seeing this, I just can't help but wonder why people shoot the bodies of the lock, and not the hinge? Shouldn't the hinge be easier to break compared to the bodies, which can be reinforced with steel rivets...

Can You Clarify the Grounding and Power Source in this FM Transmitter Circuit?

Hmm, I'm not sure I understand that. It transmits in both the AM and FM band? So if it does transmit into the FM band, there should be no problem with the receivers since they ignore AM, which isn't what is being produced. Nuts and volts, haha. I just hope there's a ham radio club somewhere...

Debunking the Myth of Natural Products: The Truth About Artificial Vitamin C

I don't understand exactly what you mean by 'natural' products. Do you mean a comparison like extracted vitamin C tablets as opposed to 'natural' vitamin C from friuts, veggies, etc. or another comparison like organically grown veggies as opposed to chemically-treated crops? Cause if it were...

Can You Clarify the Grounding and Power Source in this FM Transmitter Circuit?

thanks for the input. From where I originally got the circuit, it was supposed to be a FM transmitter. Could I somehow get it to transmit onto the FM band? And quite honestly, I doubt this circuit will be able to transmit a signal for more than a few meters, so it shouldn't be a legal issue...

Can You Clarify the Grounding and Power Source in this FM Transmitter Circuit?

Hello everyone, I'm relatively new to dabbling with electronic circuits, so I decided to build my own FM transmitter using a circuit I found on the internet. The schematic has been attached as an image file. However, there are a few things I'd like to clarify. What exactly does the 'ground'...

Wind tunnels - A few questions

Clearly, no. I did consider this, but a little too late, it seems. And as for your first question, I chose because I wanted to investigate a real-life situation, ie : on top of a hill or somewhere to that effect, when you speak to another person, it's barely audible when the wind is blowing. I...

Wind tunnels - A few questions

I'm experimenting on the speed of sound in wind. Thats why I thought of a wind tunnel, where the wind would be blowing one way and then a sound wave emitted adjacent to the direction of the wind. I'm using a setup of two microphones and a timer to calculate the speed of the sound wave. I...

Wind tunnels - A few questions

Hello everyone, I would just like to know these few things, since I'm trying to build my own little variation of a wind tunnel for my experiment with sound. 1. How is the velocity of the wind inside the tunnel measured? 2. Following the first question, how then would I go about...

Is the Speed of Sound in Wind a Viable Topic for a Research Paper?

thanks so much. just a question, does the doppler effect have a place in this? Since it isn't the observer who moves or the sound source, just the medium, does it affect the speed of sound?

Is the Speed of Sound in Wind a Viable Topic for a Research Paper?

This isn't really a homework problem, but I am doing a research paper on the topic 'the Speed of sound in different air velocities'. I was just wondering is this is an appropriate topic, and whether or not I would be able to research and collect enough data for a 4000 word essay. Any...
