Is there any free e books download for nuclear engineering

http://www.google.com/search?tbs=bks%3A1&tbo=1&q=nuclear+engineering&oq=nuclear+en google books are often useful for me, pages/series of pages are omitted but i can usually find some good information from them. torrent sites and newsgroups are illegal ways of obtaining free books; particulars...

Which CAD Software is Best for 3D Design Assignments?

It depends on how familiar you are with Pro/E (also perhaps how many of your peers, who could help you, use it). If you are already fairly comfortable with it and you need to produce the drawings soon then you should stick with Pro/E. Otherwise I would suggest SolidWorks. There is tons of...

Comparing Worm Sets vs Spur Gears

I believe it should be the other way around. The worm gear set should be the driver because it is meant to operate at high speed and allows for huge reduction. The spur gear set is not meant for high speed or large reduction; the high speed would make it noisy, cause frequent shock loads and...

How do you find/organize equations and info?

I was curious as to how different mechanical engineers found/organized the equations and information they need. So how have you organized equations or how do you go about finding them? Which options below apply to you and in which order? a) Who needs equations? b) Software does the...

Method to obtain Torsion Constant (structural)

i did a search for "Solidworks torsion constant" to see if there was a way to do it with solidworks/add-ins. i didn't find a way to do it with solidworks but the first hit is to another forum where they discuss it including many programs others have used for that purpose. i don't know if the...

How much lift thrust would a 252 CFM 120mm fan provide?

Keep it under 3 pounds if you want it to lift off the ground with two of those.

How much lift thrust would a 252 CFM 120mm fan provide?

last night i was too lazy to look at the NASA page (general thrust equation) i had previously linked to see why it didn't including the 1/2. it does include but not in a "thrust for idiots" type way. yet i looked at their page on propeller thrust and that one is totally a (propeller) "thrust for...

Mechanical Engineering Design & Build: Questions for Beginners

    1) C++ seems to be the most useful for mechanical engineering, although VB is useful for programming stuff in Excel, SolidWorks and other programs. I would recommend starting with C++ and once you get good at one language you can more easily move to others. 2) It depends on what industry you...

Calculating Speed for a Mechanical Dolly Driven by Electric Motors

Yup, that makes sense. The sprockets would be the same size since the rpms wanted for the wheel shaft and what the winch produce are the same. Good luck with your project.

How to make a air cylinder push up a gate

its the moment generated about the hinge that matters and that moment arm would only get smaller with an angled cylinder. its like rotating an x shaped revolving door; you don't need to put force on a particular door, they all act as a moment arm allowing you to rotate the door. plus if you're...

How much lift thrust would a 252 CFM 120mm fan provide?

well that's good, it means there was no dependence on knowledge of some funky aspect of fans; it came down to properly using Bernoulli's equation. i used to be afraid of being wrong, but the only way to improve and master things is by trying and learning from mistakes. thanks for the...

Calculating Speed for a Mechanical Dolly Driven by Electric Motors

Using the rating and the drum diameter you can find out how much torque it will produce (you'd only need this to confirm that the motors are strong enough to power your dolly for a certain vehicle weight and/or certain incline). You'll have to find out what the rpm of the drum is either via the...

How much lift thrust would a 252 CFM 120mm fan provide?

Well you would still need to calculate the areas and include those in the final calculation. If the motor takes half the area, then it would be more like 1.4N per fan including losses. I'm guessing its probably close to 1N per fan without measuring anything.

How to make a air cylinder push up a gate

By creating that distance from the bottom of the gate it increases mechanical advantage (i.e. the further away you are from the door hinge, the easier it is to push the door open). The cylinder is probably best parallel to the ramp, although you want to make sure that the joint between the...

How much lift thrust would a 252 CFM 120mm fan provide?

I read another forum and the answer is that the exit air velocity is divided by 2 because it is only twice of what the air velocity is going into the fan. As the fan pulls air in, it accelerates it and thus the velocity of the air going into the fan is half of the air velocity coming out of the...
