I would say time is a real "thing" but it is only 1 thing. It is broken up into managable pieces by us so we can control the world around us.
Before the big bang there was "nothing". That nothing included time. Like the "void" outside space. Time is nothing

thought I would throw this out there. A piece of this long enough to wrap the world at the equator would weigh 2 pounds.
Best use for this silk so far is to grow replacement skin tendons and nerves growen on this as a structure.
Space elevator is also a possible use but that will be ages...
