Calculating Temperature Rise in H2SO4 Dissolution: 98% wt. Acid at 30oC"

hi, would you not also have to take into consideration the heating of the gas via the acid (heat transfer), I have a spread sheet set up which considers this and as the gas flow rate is many time the liquid flow rate, and whole system only reaches 55.65oC, and this is good as the column works at...

Calculating Temperature Rise in H2SO4 Dissolution: 98% wt. Acid at 30oC"

I'm just looking for a basic temperature rise, the whole system is an absorption tower, a wet gas feed at the bottom, and the acid feed at top, so somehow I'm also going to have to come up with a compromise of the two phases increasing with temperature due to the dissolution and the general heat...

Calculating Temperature Rise in H2SO4 Dissolution: 98% wt. Acid at 30oC"

Hi can I just say first thanks loads for your reply, I will be using a cooling loop in the system, sorry but I gave you all the information I got, but it going to 150oC sounds correct. So do you recon that I would be able to half or maybe even third the heating due to it not beening infinet...

Calculating Temperature Rise in H2SO4 Dissolution: 98% wt. Acid at 30oC"

the water is also in vapour phase at the beggining, so will I also have to consider the heat of condensation of the water going from the vapour phase to the liquid phase? thankyou.

Calculating Temperature Rise in H2SO4 Dissolution: 98% wt. Acid at 30oC"

Hello, I have the following problem and am unsure how to solve it, although I believe the heat of dissolution to be -71.76kJ/mol, but I can only see how this would help me if my acid was infinetly dissoluted which is not the case so I need to know how the calculate a temperature rise when this...

Finding Henry's Law Constant for Water Vapor & Sulfuric Acid

I have perry's so should have the data needed, but I cannot find it anywhere I have been trying for weeks and weeks to get this data, I just need to know how to draw an equilibrium curve (x,y) for my system. The gas stream in has water that needs to be removed, it is a dilute stream, the...

Finding Henry's Law Constant for Water Vapor & Sulfuric Acid

so I'm presuming that because its gas phased controlled I would just need to find equilibrium data for water vapour at the given pressure and temperature? my pressure is just atm. but there will be some pressure loss will this have to be considered in the calculations or would it be ok to...

What Are the Essential Job Roles in a Basic Chemical Plant?

I have to do a detailed cost analysis of a chemical plants am ok for material units runing etc. costs, but I have to do stafing cost as well but I am stuck with what jobs are on the plant, I'm going to predict approx. 100 staff for the plant as it is already next to another plant which has quite...

Finding Henry's Law Constant for Water Vapor & Sulfuric Acid

No i don't know the stages, I thought I could get that off the graph if I ever get an equilibrium line. All I have to go off is the compositions of the liquid and gas in and out, everything else I have to do, although I know I have to use packed tower and plates, and a mid-way recycle which is...

Finding Henry's Law Constant for Water Vapor & Sulfuric Acid

I've tried to find data to draw an equilibrium curve but cannot find it although that doesn't mean its not out there. The absorption tower consists of a gas stream containing water vapour and it needs to be reduced, the solvent used is 98% wt sulfuric acid, the acid at the bottom becomes 75% wt...

Finding Henry's Law Constant for Water Vapor & Sulfuric Acid

hello after doing some further calculations I have obtained this graph which I hope shows an operating line and a equilibrium line, it looks like it. The operating line is the straight one and was drawn using (x1,y1) (x2,y2), just those two points and they were joined and think has a gradient...

Finding Henry's Law Constant for Water Vapor & Sulfuric Acid

Think I understand but that graph shows a straight line for the operating line which I have already, and a curve for the equilibrium line, I know how to extrapolate data from the two lines but cannot draw an equilibrium line I think. I constructed my operating line using (y1,x1) and (y2,x2) or...

Finding Henry's Law Constant for Water Vapor & Sulfuric Acid

ah yes that what my lecturer was saying to me, but if I presume that the mass transfer throughout the column is constant, won't the equilibrium line also be the operating line?

Finding Henry's Law Constant for Water Vapor & Sulfuric Acid

hi yes it is a dilute solute, I have all the mole fractions in and out of the absorption system and have drawn an operating line, is this operating line also infact the equilibrium line? I understand that this operating line gives me, y and x values (the solute fraction in the gas and liquid)...
