Become a Scientist: Reason and Philosophy for Biology
I know reason is thought in a philosophy course, and scientists are very good at reasoning, so does that mean all scientists took a course philosophy to learn how to think critically and reasonably? If not, then how does a student of biology learn how to think outside of his field of study...- peron

At least I think the question goes here... I was reading about Thomas Paine, and something caught my eye... What did Thomas Paine mean, by Natural rights? What are these rights? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rights_of_Man"- peron

Graduate The nature of the magnetic field.
So, the photon isn't made out of perpendicular magnetic and electric fields? And the electromagnetic field isn't made out of photons? So what is the magnetic field made out of? I know I'm asking a What is? question which aren't really answered in science, like What is space?, but the magnetic...- peron

Graduate The nature of the magnetic field.
I apologize if I wasn't clear, my question was concerning the quantized view of the magnetic field in Quantum Electrodynamics. In QED, as I have come to understand, the magnetic field is nothing more than a "photon field" of sorts. But photons themselves are made out of magnetic fields. I...- peron

Graduate The nature of the magnetic field.
QED states that the magnetic field is a kind of "photon lattice" and the force we feel when a magnet pulls of something is the exchange of these virtual photons. But I become confused right about here, if the magnetic field is virtual photons, which are themselves wave packets of magnetic and...- peron

Graduate What If You Could Build a Rocket with Infinite Exhaust Speed?
What if you could build a rocket, with the exhaust "leaving" the engine at a instantaneous speed, would such a rocket with a infinite exhaust move? The particles leaving the engine will reach a different destination as soon as the rocket was switched on, so how could such a rocket exert a...- peron

Graduate How does a magnetic feild work?
This is a question which I can't seem to find a answer to. How does a magnetic field physically attract another magnetic field? I mean does Quantum Electrodynamics explain magnetic fields as well as the EM force? Or is it some kind of different quantum field theory?- peron
