Undergrad Solve Gompertz Model for Population Growth with Help | TIA
I need help in solving the following solution. The Gompertz model has been used to model population growth. dy/dt = -ryln(y/k), where r = 0.67 per year, K = 36500 kg, Use the Gompertz model to find the predicted value of y(4) . TIA.- rroy81

P0 really is meant to say P subscript 0. Didn't know how to do this in here. Couldn't Copy & paste from word either. -

SteveL27, yes this is exactly where I am stuck. I do believe I understand the question however, I am having a very difficult time put words on paper that explains it. thrill3rnit3, I will attempt what I think..here goes.. I believe that "let P be any point in S such that (P-P0)/2 <... -

Graduate Epislon & Delta for Open / Not Open Sets
firstly: THANK YOU all for taking the time and trying to point me in the right direction. Now, I am sitting here pondering on this problems "Open Set" problems. I believe the question I should be asking is whether someone can explain to me Open Sets using δ & ε? with examples and... -

Graduate Epislon & Delta for Open / Not Open Sets
Ok guys, my apologies. I did more research on this problem set and this is exactly what is given. Is the set S = {P=(x,y): |y| > 0} open or not? {P=(x,y): |y| > 0} = {P=(x,y): (y > 0) or (y <0)} = {P=(x,y):y ≠ 0} I need to show whether this is a open set or not? Hope this iis more... -

So the definition or what I understand a "Open Set" is; Any arbitrary point P within a set must be < than the δ or radius in order to satisfy as an "Open Set". Was this what you are asking? I am simply confused and lost on how one would write a proof and hence I need a better explanation... -

Is Lagrange's Theorem the Key to Solving This Vector Equation?
I like Serena, My understanding to cross product is using the matrix, am I right? (ith, jth and kth terms) and as I have given the terms A=(a1, a2, a3) B=(b1, b2, b3) and so on..than to solve the cross product. I simply took the crossed out the first column and row and than did the cross...- rroy81

Is Lagrange's Theorem the Key to Solving This Vector Equation?
So turns out the instructor had typo in the problem. it should be (A x B) . (C x D) = (A . C) (B . D) - (A . D) (B . C) The way I started was let A = {a1, a2, a3 } and so on for the remaining (B, C, D). I assume it is a matrice and will proceed as a dot product. Than I am unsure if this right...- rroy81

Is Lagrange's Theorem the Key to Solving This Vector Equation?
Proof using lagrange! Homework Statement (A x B) . (C x D) = (A . B) (C . D) - (A . D) (B . C) Homework Equations This is all that's given..I am sort of lost on how to proof this. Spent 4hrs + The Attempt at a Solution Completely lost and don't know where to start- rroy81
