hello everyone,
what stuff can i tackle on my own to learn dsp? complex variables and Fourier transforms to begin with - but what else? how do other aspects of EE play into dsp? how do i get functionality fastest!?
How easily do you guys think the academic side of ECE applies to your own little projects? Like, is a class of dsp design going to help me make some neat max/msp patches? In other words, how has your education doubled in your art?
Let's say I want to build music systems. Which rabbit hole do I travel down?
Anybody do dsp? Communications science could double as a music processing skill, yeah? whaddaya say? I think it boils down to computer science vs. computer engineering. one being more software, the other more hardware.
"It was simply a matter of time, the information comes so thick and fast that you barley have time to think about what it means and how valid it is or formulate any real understanding. I found it was just constant jumping through hoops, so i quit."
this is often the problem, but it's really got...
haha, I am one of the many people deciding between EE or physics his second year undergrad :) you hit the nail on the head. it would be great to get two people on the forums in this field to compare these two jobs. anybody do an EE degree and build these things? if i see someone with this...
I thought this might be a well-used thread if I asked the following:
What computer skills do physicists use in their work? Please tell me what technology you have learned for whatever job you do. This questions mostly geared toward those of you guys out in the field, not fellow undergrads...
that was an amazing post, but I'm still not clear on accelerator vs collider.
colliders are just two accelerators pointed at each other, yes? how can one be considered medium energy and one be high?
does qm reign in high energy while classical physics does in medium?
thanks
say i want to work at an accelerator, smashing some atoms and whatnot -
as an undergrad i'd like to do a math and physics double major, should i go with applied math or stick to pure mathematics?
...or just go to one of those beam schools?
i think it's a good idea to take on the idea of: do i want to have all the possible tools to express my theory or not? you've got to facilitate whatever you need!
