Schools Graduate School Electrical Engineering with a BS in Math

I know, it's so close, that is what makes this potential decision so tough. I'd be only one semester from completing both, but with a wife and kid it's also hard to turn down a great salary with great benefits. If I take the job I'd have to relocate, which means transferring and from my...

Schools Graduate School Electrical Engineering with a BS in Math

My long range educational goal is to complete a PhD program in Electrical Engineering. I am currently enrolled in a dual degree program to get a BS in Math completed in the Spring and my BS in EE completed in the Fall of 2013. There is a specific federal engineering job I was interested in...

Grad Dip in Science (Physics) for an Electrical Engineer?

I'd talk with some graduate advisors at schools you are looking at for those programs. As a graduate EE student you often get credit towards your program for Math, Physics and/or CS classes taken at an appropriate level. See what level the programs expect your physics knowledge base to be...

I am having problems with lots of rigor.

AlwaysCurious, I wouldn't worry about it. You are a high school junior and tackling Spivak on your own. That is quite a high level! If you are finding it difficult take a break and study something else for a while. What you find boring now may become very interesting to you in the future. I...

Can't decide between PDEs or Vector Analysis

The detailed syllabi aren't posted for either class. Here is the small course description for PDEs: The objectives of the course are to provide students with the techniques necessary for the formulation and solution of problems involving PDE's and to prepare students for further study in...

Integral of ln(1+tanx) from 0 to pi/4 | Homework Equations

J≐0.27219826 looks like \frac{\pi}{8}\ln{2} which is why I think it likely he made a simple arithmetic mistake.

Integral of ln(1+tanx) from 0 to pi/4 | Homework Equations

Your really close, you probably made a simple arithmetic mistake in your work. The graph of that is very close to a triangle and the area you found wouldn't fit in the bounds of a triangle. That was fun integral though!

Upper Division Preparation - Transfer Student

I had the same worries when I transferred in from a community college. You really are worrying to much. The calculus sequence is pretty standardized for undergraduates, as is Physics. If you have taken the courses on the transfer list and feel comfortable with the material then you are well...

I'm starting school again in a month. What should I do to prepare?

I agree totally with eXorikos. Take a break and recharge. I am working on a dual degree program in Math and Engineering and have gone to summer school every semester, giving myself less than a month break for the past 3 years and it sucks! I can tell you that it has hurt me academically...

Can't decide between PDEs or Vector Analysis

Yeah, that's the impression I have gotten for any mechanical based engineering. I am leaning towards PDEs since Maxwell's Equations, which are PDEs, are the fundamental basis for electricity. I just think it weird that I would get advanced standing grad credit if I take vector analysis, but...

Can't decide between PDEs or Vector Analysis

I am working on a dual undergrad degree program, with my primary degree being Electrical Engineering. This fall will start the last semester to get my B.S. in Math completed. For the engineering side I am taking Electromagnetics and Signals and Systems Analysis this semester. I need only to...

    Prove series is divergent (sqrt(n+1) - sqrt(n))/sqrt(n)

Thanks! After using the conjugate the limit comparison with 1/sqrt(n) came out to 0 but when done with 1/n the limit came out to be 1/2 which is usable. Thanks!

    Prove series is divergent (sqrt(n+1) - sqrt(n))/sqrt(n)

Homework Statement Prove that \sum\limits_{n = 0}^\infty {\frac{{\left( { \sqrt{n+1} \right) - \sqrt{n} }}{{\left( {\sqrt{n}} \right)!}}} is divergent Homework Equations The Attempt at a Solution This is an intro to analysis course. We haven't gone over the integral test which would be...
